Virginia “Viky” García is a Texas-based Licensed Professional Counselor Intern (supervised by Corrina Herrera, LPC-S) and a PhD student at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. Ms. García earned her Master of Science in Education - Counseling from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. She currently works with Usawa Wellness Services in San Antonio but provides TeleMental Health counseling from Laredo, Texas. Ms. García has served as a university administrator focused on career services and has a long history of advocacy work for immigrant populations, along with community engagement. Ms. Garcia is now channeling her activism to academic ventures to contribute Latin American immigrant mental health understanding and how to best serve as helping professionals.
